Reynier Mariño Born on September 20, 1979 in Havana, Cuba. He began his studies at the Manuel Saumell School of Music, continued at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory and graduated from the Félix Varela Center for Professional Improvement. He received master classes from Leo Brouwer and Manolo San Lúcar.

Tomatito Gerardo Núñez has a degree in guitar and music from the Higher Institute of Art in Havana and a diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in Madrid.

After graduating with a gold medal, he began performing with the Cuban Ballet, with whom he toured various countries. It was on one of these tours that he met Manolo San Lucar, from whom he received flamenco lessons, and years later he was mentored by the great guitarist Tomatito.

Mariño, who released his album Alma Gitana in 2003, considered the first of its kind in Cuba, was number one in his country, Cuba. Reynier is considered the most famous and best flamenco musician in Cuba and is currently the country's most popular guitarist.

His work, which is already registered in national and international record stores, is becoming more and more accepted in popular taste and is also part of that remarkable sum of sounds that makes up the panorama of Cuban music. Flamenco fused with son, jazz and classical music give their concerts the touch of the Hispanic component that runs through the veins of Cubans.

With his work, he ushered in a new stage in the cultivation and dissemination of flamenco in Cuba, a genre that has been known and practised on the island since the beginning of the 20th century, but to which no record had ever been dedicated until the arrival of Reynier Mariño's 2001 album "Alma Gitana", which won the National Concert Music Award a year later.

Artistic career

He began his artistic career in 1995; in 1997 he worked as second guitarist in the Spanish Ballet of Havana, later joining the Lizt Alfonso Ballet as first guitarist, with whom he toured the most important theaters throughout Spain. In 2000, he founded his own group, with which he toured all of Cuba's large and small stages and became the biggest flamenco artist in Cuba, reaching number 1 on radio and television. In 2006 he moved to Spain, where he met Paco de Lucía.

His career is internationalized, and he performs throughout Europe and much of Africa. In 2011 he settled in Uruguay, where he became one of the most important exponents of flamenco, being the most sought-after guitarist on television in his country, and from there he not only traveled all over Uruguay with his music, but also to Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Panama and other countries in the region.

He returned to Cuba in 2014. To make it into his group and become the number 1 in the whole country again. The songs with artists such as El Chacal or Lenier Omara Portuondo, the Polo Montañés group Diego el Cigala and others are mythical in Cuba. There he shares the stage with the guitarist of the Rolling Stones, who on his arrival in Cuba asks to visit a popular guitarist on the island, and it leads him to Reynier Mariño.

Keith Richards and Reynier Mariño played together at the King Bar Hotel California. In 2018, he returned to Spain and became the most sought-after guitarist in the Canary Islands, where he currently lives.

He was recently guest of honor at El Rocío de Huelva. The most important flamenco festival in Spain, where he was baptized as an emeritus member of the Order of Rocío and will be guest of honour at the next Rocío in 2024.

El Rocío is a very, very Andalusian festival, the cradle of flamenco artists such as Paco de Lucía Camarón de la Isla, and very few have achieved similar prominence at this event so closed to the world of genuine, non-commercial flamenco.

Edecio Alejandro has recently produced the CD "Mi alma entre cuerdas". The only guitar CD produced in Cuba this year. Edecio Alejandro is a member of the jury of the Grammy Awards in the United States of America and is considered the most important film music composer in the history of Cuba.

The CD was produced under the record label, Benedetto Production from Italy and Cuba. He recently gave several concerts in Germany with great success and participated in festivals and fashion events to great acclaim.

Germany has received the music of Reynier Mariño with great pleasure and has requested several presentations last summer 2023 in different cities of the country.

He is currently in Spain, where he performs throughout the year in the most important theaters in Spain.
