Your gaze meets that of the other, you circle around each other, move together, energetically, ecstatically.
You don't dance alone, you dance yourself into the scene and it dances with you. In the center or on the edge, you meet, because you are all audience, you are all actors.
FOKUS, a production from 2021, which is now being revived with a new cast and new impulses, has no plot or story. Inspired by hip-hop culture and its "battles", FOKUS develops a communal ritual of bodies in dialog. Solos, duets, trios and quartets create a constantly shifting, constantly new focus - from the individual body to the collective and vice versa.
Essentially based on long-term cooperation with Bonn and Cologne schools, the Junior Company has developed into a development space for up to forty adolescents at times since it was founded in 2013, which is open to all young people without any form of audition. The work of the Bonn Junior Company, a "dance experimentation laboratory for adolescents between the ages of eight and 18" (General-Anzeiger), has won several awards and invitations to guest performances. The development of the ensemble is strongly driven by the exchange with the professional CocoonDance company. These two ensembles are growing together more and more.
