The Italian Cultural Institute Cologne presents a concert by the Francesco Cavestri Trio on March 25, 2026 at 7 p.m. in its theater hall.
The young pianist, composer and producer Francesco Cavestri, a promising talent on the young European jazz scene, will present a program in Cologne that is deeply rooted in contemporary jazz, but also influenced by hip-hop elements, electro and atmospheric film music. The trio, consisting of Riccardo Marchese (drums) and Alessandro Simeoni (bass), will presenta repertoire of original compositions from its three previously released albums and daring new interpretations of jazz greats such as John Coltrane, Robert Glasper and the group Radiohead . Some pieces from the album to be released in April 2026 will also be presented. Although still very young, Francesco Cavestri has already received many awards. He was included in the "Under 30" list by Forbes Italia, won the title of "Best New Talent" from the Italian jazz magazine Musica Jazz two years in a row(2023 and 2024) and received the prize for the dissemination of jazz to young people at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. On stage, Cavestri impresses with his musical maturity, strong communicative energy and ability to create an authentic dialog with the audience between virtuosity, storytelling and emotional depth.
Francesco Cavestri (2003) is a pianist, composer and someone who has set himself the task of bringing music to the people. At the age of just 20, he graduated from the Bologna Conservatory with top marks in jazz piano. In the United States, he won two scholarships at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and at the New School in New York. His discography includes three albums: "Early17" (2022, with Fabrizio Bosso), "IKI - Bellezza ispiratrice" (January 19, 2024, with Paolo Fresu, Universal Music Italia) and "Una morte da mediano" (February 16, 2024, soundtrack for Rai Play). The tour to present the albums began on April 14, 2024 with a sold-out concert at the Blue Note in Milan. Cavestri has performed at prestigious festivals and jazz clubs (such as Time in Jazz, Berchidda; JazzMi, Milan; Smalls Jazz Club, New York; Casa del Jazz, Rome). Since September 2024 he is Steinway & Sons Italia Ambassador. In October 2024, he gave a sold-out concert with Italian rapper Willie Peyote at the Triennale in Milan. On January 21, 2025, the single "Entropia" (with Willie Peyote, Universal Music) was released, giving a foretaste of the new album. In March 2025, he performed as a solo pianist at the Steinway Hall in Milan and gave a concert that is still to be released as a live album.
