Victor Frankenstein is fascinated by science and technology. He wants to unravel the last secrets of creation with a medical experiment. He sews together an artificial being from parts of a corpse and brings it to life. Shocked by the result, he pushes it away and flees. The creature, whose vulnerability does not match its coarse form, tries to find its way in a strange and forbidding world. But time and again it experiences exclusion and hatred. Embittered, the creature swears revenge and sets off in search of its creator. When the two meet and Frankenstein realizes that he cannot kill the creature, they make a cruel pact.

Mary Shelley's story describes the search for friendship and love in a world that constantly rejects them. Who is monster and who is human is decided anew in the face of Victor Frankenstein and his creature.
