Französische Filmwoche

From 21 - 27 November 2024, the Institut français Aachen is organizing the French Film Week together with the Institut français d'Allemagne and Apollo Kino & Bar.

The popular film festival brings the diversity of current French and Francophone cinema to Aachen. The selection includes films of all genres that have won awards at the major film festivals and can be seen in the original French version with German subtitles before their German releases.

The French Film Week will open with DIE LEISEN UND DIE GROSSEN TÖNE, a tragicomedy starring Benjamin Lavernhe (BIRNENKUCHEN MIT LAVENDEL) and Pierre Lottin (EIN TRIUMPH), which is rightly eagerly awaited after winning audience awards at various festivals.

The centerpiece on Sunday evening is the French Oscar submission, the unique, genre-breaking EMILIA PERÈZ by master director Jacques Audiard (A PROPHET, THE TASTE OF RUST AND KNOTS, WHERE THE SUN RISES IN PARIS), which won two awards at Cannes.

The closing film is the epic remake of Alexandre Dumas' novel of the century THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO starring Pierre Niney (TOGETHER AND TOGETHER) and Anaïs Demoustier (SUMMER WITH Anaïs), which has delighted around nine million moviegoers in France.
