The name Freak Slug sums up Xenya Genovee's artistic world in a way that is both twisted and perfect. Amidst a fascinating mix of sounds and feelings - nostalgic, 90s-inspired, dreamy, but also eccentric and experimental - Freak Slug lives. Heavily influenced by cult icons such as Ride and Mazzy Star, their work is all about capturing moods.

With her debut EP Videos and the viral hit "Radio" (over 13.5 million Spotify streams) as well as the follow-up EPs I'm In Love and Viva La Vulva, she initially introduced her "summery, cheerful, L.A.-inspired sound". On her debut album, I Blow Out Big Candles, Freak Slug thinks bigger - playful and humorous, but never without exploring the darker sides of sound and psyche. Her unique view of the world, shaped by her fine arts training, self-taught musicality and a good dose of life experience, drives her creative vision. Freak Slug is an absolute must for fans of indie cult, femme punk and everything in between.

In 2025, Freak Slug is making waves with a string of stellar festival and tour appearances in the UK, Europe and the US. Following her performance at SXSW in Austin, Texas in March, she returned for an extensive tour, playing popular festivals such as Latitude Festival, Kendal Calling, Leeds Festival and Rock N Roll Circus - further proving that she is one of the most exciting new artists on the international live scene.
