freitagsküche Workshop • Textile Praxis des Miteinander

In the organizer's words:

A collective handicraft project that understands textile production as a social practice: starting with discarded T-shirts brought along, a recycled jersey yarn is created on site. In an open process, the participants use it to make knitted or crocheted modules that are successively joined together to form a carpet, an object or a flag.
The resulting product is to be understood less as a finished object than as an ongoing process: a material archive of encounters, conversations and shared time. It refers to forms of collective authorship and contrasts the logic of individual production with collective collaboration.

During the KunstFestSpiele, the work will remain visible in the festival center. You are welcome to bring old T-shirts. Anyone with knitting or crochet experience has a clear advantage.

The workshop takes place as part of freitagsküche. Perhaps the best festival kitchen in Europe cooks and curates culinary art as a social event: the artists' collective not only provides diverse and tasty food for the festival, but also creates a social space in which artistic practice and everyday culture overlap with the workshops on offer.
