Hesse State Youth Symphony Orchestra performs at Dr. Hoch's Conservatory
with works by Franz Schubert and Anton Bruckner
Look forward to a concert evening full of tonal variety and emotional depth. Under the direction of the young conductor Roc Fargas i Castells , the Hesse State Youth Symphony Orchestra will present a rousing program with works by Franz Schubert and Anton Bruckner.
The evening begins with Schubert's Fierrabras Overture - music full of verve, drama and romantic timbres. This is followed by the famous Symphony No. 7 in B minor, better known as the "Unfinished". This work, which is still puzzling today, fascinates with its emotional depth and typical Schubertian melodic arcs.
The interval is followed by a highlight of late Romantic orchestral music: Bruckner's 6th Symphony. Monumental, full of power and yet deeply touching, the music unfolds here, oscillating between powerful splendor and intimate stillness. Bruckner himself spoke of his "boldest" symphony - and indeed, this work surprises again and again with unexpected twists and turns.
