FRÜHLUNGS-MATINEE DER HEINZ-BOSL-STIFTUNG

From the very beginning, i.e. since 1978, Konstanze Vernon associated the idea of regular Sunday matinees at the Nationaltheater with the establishment of the foundation, which was to carry the name of her great dance partner Heinz Bosl, who died so young, into the future. She had always regarded the stage of their joint triumphs in Swan Lake, Onegin or Romeo and Juliet as a kind of sacred place. And inextricably linked to the pedagogical idea of the foundation was the wish that young people who wanted to dedicate themselves to the art of dance should experience it from an early age.

To experience what it means to be on a big stage, and one of the most traditional and important stages in the world at that. To be allowed to dance on this stage and in front of this huge auditorium, five tiers high and shimmering in red and gold - Vernon had never forgotten what a privilege this is for every artist.

And she conceived the programs of the Bosl matinees in such a way that they soon became a natural part of Munich dance life: the little ones of the ballet academy were given artistically substantial tasks. The same applies to the adolescents and students of the upper school, for whom the foundation engaged world-class choreographers. Here the students were able to experience what their art is capable of in the most demanding cases. The audience was no less important to Vernon: the matinees were to be a family celebration, inspiring the children as well as the parents and even the experienced ballet-goer, who is used to expecting the highest artistic standards from a program.
