Für Casals | Kronberg Festival 2026 „Courage!“
In the organizer's words:
Hardly any other artist has left such a lasting mark on the Kronberg Academy as Pablo Casals. His name stands for artistic excellence, humanity, and the courage to take a stand—values that continue to shape the Academy’s identity to this day.
To mark the 150th anniversary of the great cellist’s birth, the Kronberg Festival is dedicating a concert evening to him, with a program directly linked to his life and work. Ernest Bloch’s *From Jewish Life*, Mendelssohn’s Second Cello Sonata, Casals’s own *Rêverie*, Cassadó’s spirited *Requiebros*, and Brahms’s String Quintet span a spectrum of music that Casals played, loved, or actively promoted.
Featuring Gary Hoffman —one of the most significant cellists of our time—and Chloe Jiyeong Mun, as well as the Kronberg Young Soloists Anna Im, Michael and Noga Shaham, and Samuel Rosenthal, artists from different generations cometogether for a concert that not only commemorates Pablo Casals but also brings his artistic ethos to life.
Concert introduction at 6:45 p.m. with Prof. Dr. Tiago de Oliveira Pinto (Professor in the Musical Heritage Chair at the Kronberg Academy).
