Verspielt | Kronberg Festival 2026 „Courage!“

“Verspielt” celebrates the joy of making music together—with virtuosity, charm, and a healthy dose of wit.

This marks the Korean Chamber Orchestra’s first appearance at the Kronberg Festival. This time-honored ensemble ranks among Asia’s most renowned chamber orchestras and captivates audiences worldwide with its exceptional precision and tonal flexibility. Together with award-winning violinist Ji Young Lim and cellist István Várdai, they present a program rich in color and contrast.

The program opens with Jisoo Lee’s arrangement of the traditional Korean folk melody “Jindo Arirang” —a musical greeting from the orchestra’s homeland. Boccherini’s Cello Concerto, Tchaikovsky’s passionate *Pezzo capriccioso*, Gluck’s famous melody in Fritz Kreisler’s arrangement, and Waxman’s virtuosic *Carmen* Fantasy guide the audience through a wide variety of sonic worlds, before Dvořák’s *Serenade* concludes the evening with its warm, lyrical beauty.

A concert that views playful lightness not as the opposite of artistic excellence, but as perhaps its most beautiful form of expression.
