Global Grooves | Kronberg Festival 2026 „Courage!“
In the organizer's words:
What happens when two cellists take their instrument beyond the boundaries of the classical comfort zone? As CelloFellos, Bryan Cheng and Leonard Disselhorst demonstrate just how limitless the sound of the cello can be.
Their program combines original compositions with jazz, tango, folk, and musical influences from a wide variety of regions around the world. Duke Ellington meets Herbie Hancock and Bobby McFerrin; Astor Piazzolla meets Béla Bartók; Romanian themes meet Leonard Disselhorst’s own soundscapes. In the process, the cello becomes at times a melodic instrument, at times a bass, a rhythm machine, or an entire ensemble.
“Global Grooves” thrives on virtuoso precision, spontaneous energy, and the desire to push beyond familiar boundaries. A late-night festival concert on Saturday, full of rhythmic power and infectious joy.
