Kenna Rowan (Maika Monroe) returns to her hometown after five years in prison in the hope of seeing her four-year-old daughter again. But the traces of her past make it difficult for her. The people who cared for the child during her absence are determined to keep Kenna away from her. Despite her efforts, she encounters rejection and mistrust everywhere she goes. One exception is Ledger Ward (Tyriq Withers), the owner of the local bar and one of the last remaining links to her daughter. A relationship slowly develops between the two, but it is overshadowed by the many prejudices and expectations. But as their budding romance grows, so does the risk of losing everything. Kenna must find a way to make up for the mistakes of her past and create a future of hope and healing.
