Maria Hafner and jazz guitarist Andreas Dombert make their way back to the 90s with songs by Rio Reiser. They encounter timelessly poetic songs and memories of a small-town youth in which the great upheavals have long since left their mark. Maria Hafner: voice & piano, Andreas Dombert: guitar, Veronika Maurer: dramaturgy.

Straubing, 90s. Maria Hafner and Andreas Dombert graduated from music high school together, but never made music together. The opportunities, the band house, the music pub. Life in the small town in Lower Bavaria feels good and stable shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Maria Hafner and her brothers grow up between folk music and punk, confidence in a world that is growing together, and images of mass layoffs and arson attacks on TV. They dream of trips to the exciting big city scene and are secretly aware of the right-wing extremist activities around Straubing. But what was really going on back then in the 90s?

Maria Hafner studied school music and speech training at the music academies in Munich and Stuttgart. In her current music projects HafnerBurgmayr, Parkdeck 6, Maria Hafner & Theresa Loibl, she moves confidently between DaDa, electronic music and blues. As an actress, she can be seen on the theater stage and in film productions or at the Nockherberg Singspiel. She leads a male choir and gives yodeling courses. "Maria Hafner is one of the musical elemental forces of the Munich scene ... She can sing wonderfully, she can yodel ravishingly, she can play the violin and viola like a goddess. And she is a ramp sow before the Lord, Jesus Maria!" (AZ April 9, 2022)

Andreas Dombert studied jazz guitar at the Nuremberg-Augsburg University of Music under Helmut Kagerer and Paulo Morello and has worked with world stars such as Pat Martino, Larry Coryell, Philip Catherine, Ulf Wakenius and Airto Moreira in recent years. He has performed at top-class international festivals with "Dombert's Urban Jazz". His trio was nominated for the ECHO JAZZ award. Andreas Dombert is one of the most innovative and strongest voices on the German guitar scene.
