On June 23, 2026, the Portuguese black metal formation GEAREA will present their new work at Club Volta Cologne, thus expanding an artistic development that has continuously gained intensity and depth in recent years.

Since their formation in 2016, the Porto-based band has developed a position that expands the traditional vocabulary of black metal with expressive and introspective dimensions. Earlier albums such as Unsettling Whispers and Mirage pioneered this development - combining contemplative density with a structural precision that opened up new expressive possibilities for the genre.

With Loss, the album announced for March 20, 2026, GEAREA continues on this path, but with an expanded focus on emotional transparency and musical nuances that go beyond mere sonic aggression. The advance track "Hellbound", for example, explores guilt, heartbreak and self-destruction by addressing the tension between vulnerable melody and brute intensity. This exploration of existential tensions characterizes the entire new longplayer, which, according to the band, represents a condensed experience of personal and collective transformation.

GEAREA continues this basic attitude in a live context. The masked stage presence does not serve to conceal, but rather to symbolically reveal: it takes shape from the individual in favor of a collective experience in which music and audience mirror each other. This performative approach turns the concert at Club Volta into an event that goes beyond the mere performance of songs and opens up spaces for reflection, confrontation and a conscious perception of sound as a physical and psychological presence.

The performance of Loss in Cologne marks a point at which GEAREA not only continue their work, but also bring together the dialectical tensions of their sound in an immediate, concentrated setting. The proximity to the stage and the reduced backdrop of Club Volta thus become a suitable resonating body for a music that is not fleeting in its intensity, but inhabitable.
