What is it about? Complaining about poverty, exploitation and social discrimination is no longer enough. We must talk about wealth, we must talk about money, we must finally talk about the super-rich. It's high time for a theatrical attack on the super-rich! Millionaire heiress Marlene Engelhorn, theatre-maker Volker Lösch, actress Marlene Reiter and author Lothar Kittstein show how high wealth turns into undemocratic power, how money and (in)justice are connected, how super-richness disguises itself to the outside world and immunizes itself against criticism - and they ask how it can be stopped in order to save democracy and make a good life possible for everyone. In doing so, they combine documentary material with personal stories and grotesque play scenes to create a hybrid whole that is intended to do one thing above all: A desire for change. Why go there? "The play 'Geld ist Klasse' is documentation, provocation, agitation. An evening that is hilarious, abysmal, absurd, dramatic and breaks a taboo: people don't talk about money, they say. Even less about a lot of money." (Stuttgarter Zeitung) Insider info: Millionaire heiress Marlene Engelhorn is co-founder of the "taxmenow" initiative and has been campaigning for a wealth and inheritance tax and progressive capital gains taxation together with other wealthy people since 2021. "Geld ist Klasse" is on the shortlist of the Berlin Theatertreffen 2025. Marlene Engelhorn will be a guest at Vorgarten on 21.06.
