The anthology Nicht die Ersten forms the starting point for a discussion and reading format as part of Spätschicht x İÇ İÇE Festival on queer-migrant history and the present, on memory and cultural spaces.

Nicht die Ersten brings together perspectives of queer Black people and People of Color in Germany since the 1980s. The interviewees share a common understanding of being part of a history that does not begin with them. Melissa Kolukısagil, artistic director of İÇ İÇE, talks to Tarek Shukrallah, İpek İpekçioğlu and Thao Ho about forms of remembrance, networks and cultural practices as well as the question of how queer-migrant stories are passed on - even if they remain fragmented. Between conversation, reading and personal reflection, an evening about visibility, memory and the assertion of queer-migrant spaces will be created.
