GRENZKONTROLLE • "HEUTE BIN ICH RELEVANT, MORGEN BIN ICH VERGESSEN" TOUR 2026

In the organizer's words:

GRENZKONTROLLE announce their new EP "PIRATEN" with the single "NEUMARKT", which will be released on 29.05.2026 and with which they will then go on "HEUTE BIN ICH RELEVANT, MORGEN BIN ICH VERGESSEN" TOUR 2026 at the end of September. Tickets are available now from Krasser Stoff and all other sales outlets.

The four-piece Cologne band GRENZKONTROLLE moves between post-punk, political art and cultural collage. Their attitude is just as central as their music. Together, drummer Roza Rot, guitarist Kodia Funk, bassist Schuttland and singer Don L. Gaspár Ali reflect on the present, make it audible and try to change it. The band is concerned with making the problems of the present visible and raising awareness of what is happening around us - with the aim of bringing people together and encouraging them not only to listen, but also to take a stand and become active.

At the heart of the new EP "PIRATES", which will be released digitally on 29.05.2026 and physically on 10.07.2026, is a clear stance in terms of content: the title is a reference to the Edelweiss Pirates - a Cologne resistance group during the Nazi era, consisting of young people who actively opposed the regime and were executed for it. The EP thus deliberately ties in with formative political and historical events and translates them into a contemporary context. Her songs combine personal perspectives with social observations and thus create a space in which individual experiences and collective memory meet. Her first EP "EDELWEIẞ" already hinted at this exploration - PIRATEN takes it a step further. Musically, the band also moves along this tension and translates their "pressure on the chest" into a sound between energetic post-punk and funky elements.

With the first single release "NEUMARKT", the band focuses on a central location in Cologne, which for many is an everyday traffic junction and at the same time a mirror of social reality. The starting point is singer Don L. Gaspár Ali's personal connection to this place, which he has known since his school days. "I used to change trains there every day to get to school. I used to have the feeling that the people there were just older - now it seems like they're getting younger and younger," he describes. A narrative emerges between memories and the present. The song processes these observations into a direct image of urban and social change. Musically, this perspective is condensed into a close connection between text and instrumental - raw, honest and deliberately reduced to the essentials. In the accompanying video by Felix Aaron, we experience the band in the place sung about here. Entangled in absurd scenarios, the band's swan song is transferred to Cologne's Neumarkt and its surroundings.

This summer, GRENZKONTROLLE will be playing a number of festivals and supporting Sleaford Mods before embarking on the "TODAY I AM RELEVANT, TOMORROW I AM FORGOTTEN" TOUR 2026 at the end of September, which will take them through Germany. Tickets for the six tour stops are available now from Krasser Stoff and all other known sales outlets.
