Greta Wehner, eine Frau tritt aus dem Schatten

For 37 years, Greta was at the side of SPD politician Herbert Wehner: as office manager, driver, employee, companion, wife and carer. According to former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, "a politician has been lost in Greta Wehner". Her path is not a typical life story - nor is it a typical story of emancipation. Greta did not conform to any cliché. She did not fulfill many of the expectations placed on her. But in her own way, Greta exceeded all expectations. She asserted herself in the political arena at a time when it was more than ever a purely male domain. Throughout her life, she set standards for compassionate, democratic and solidary action.
Author Christoph Meyer was one of Greta Wehner's closest companions for over 20 years. He was able to access her entire estate. The result is a biography that is as exciting as it is personal, which he presents at the GSI.
