Griff's exclusive Berlin appearance was barely announced for October, and the show at the Frannz Club was already sold out. No wonder, the 22-year-old Englishwoman is on her way to becoming a global superstar. She was already signed by the major Warner Music for her first track "Mirror Talk". Before that, she had started recording and producing songs on her brother's laptop, which she taught herself through YouTube tutorials. Even then, it was clear that Sarah Faith Griffiths was pursuing an approach all her own, one that included songwriting and production as well as fashion and design. Only those who have understood how something works can also maintain control over it. That's exactly what the young woman did as Griff, even though the pandemic brought her to an abrupt halt. Right after her very first appearance, she found herself in lockdown. But Griff used this time alone with herself to produce a small masterpiece: With the mixtape "One Foot In Front Of The Other," which is a tightrope walk between delicate fragility and youthful intrepidity, Griff managed to break through to pop stardom while stuck in her bedroom. She was rewarded with the Brit Award as Rising Star, several other awards from the British music press, hundreds of millions of streams and the unconditional love of her fans, who enormously appreciate her very own way of combining new sounds with advanced lyrics. This has not gone unnoticed by their peers, who have asked the likes of Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Florence + the Machine to join them on tour. Most recently, they released "Vertigo," a harbinger of a new EP due out these days. Griff is a once-in-a-generation talent and living proof that the best music is created when you do things a little differently than the others, trusting your own ideas and intuition rather than being told what to do.
