Deuschlandfunk and Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz (DSD) are delighted to once again invite you to a special concert event. For over 30 years, the Grundton D charity concerts, organized by Deutschlandfunk in collaboration with the German Foundation for Monument Protection, have been inspiring audiences with their combination of music and architecture. On November 10, 2024 at 6 p.m., music lovers of the Grundton D benefit concert series can expect a special listening experience in the Deutschlandfunk Chamber Music Hall in Cologne.

The musical oeuvre of French tuba and serpent player Michel Godard is exemplary in its diversity from early music, jazz and non-European music to the avant-garde for the multifaceted nature of the music productions that are created every day in the Deutschlandfunk Kammermusiksaal. Michel Godard himself can hardly be pinned down musically, which has earned him an almost legendary reputation, especially in the world music scene. His recordings on the ECM label are milestones in the genre.

The concert in the Deutschlandfunk Chamber Music Hall will feature the program "Splendor Solis", in which Michel Godard celebrates his musical border-crossing together with good musician friends. All four musicians not only bring with them immense experience in different styles, but also their very own musical and cultural backgrounds: singer Nataša Mirković the folklore of the Balkans, oud virtuoso Ihab Radwan the musical culture of Arabia and guitarist Enrique "Quique" Sinesi the tango of his Argentinian homeland. On stage, all of this merges into a fascinating musical work of art.

The proceeds from this concert in the "Grundton D" charity series by Deutschlandfunk and the German Foundation for Monument Protection will go towards the preservation of the historic Ratsschiff M/S Stadt Köln.

"Grundton D" in the Deutschlandfunk Chamber Music Hall is an event as part of the Deutschlandfunk Festival 2024.
