This year, "gute aussichten - junge deutsche fotografie" selected its winners for the 20th time. The core of the project, which was founded in 2004, is an annual competition for final theses from all German universities and academies that offer a photography course.
The prizewinners' works reflect current moods, discourses and problems in society. They reflect on major themes such as dying and forgetting, investigate the causes of forest fires in the Mediterranean region, document the generational conflict in Georgia or deal with image synthesis and generative AI. The complex construct of parasocial relationships with a fictional character is explored, as is dealing with one's own bipolar personality. The return of the wolves to East Germany is the occasion for stories and the search for existential experiences and truths.
Since 2015, the Landesmuseum Koblenz has been showing the annual exhibition of the winners of the renowned "gute aussichten - junge deutsche fotografie" prize for young talent at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.
