Hachiku

In the organizer's words:

HACHIKU is the brainchild of German-Australian producer Anika Ostendorf who, together with band members Jessie Warren (she/her; bass, BVs), Georgia Smith (they/she; guitar, BVs) and Simon Reynolds (he/him - drums), writes and produces open-minded indie rock with alt-pop appeal.

With the release of their self-recorded and mixed EP Hachiku (2017) and critically acclaimed debut LP I'll Probably Be Asleep (2020), Hachiku have steadily built a loyal global fanbase built on catchy melodies, shimmering walls of sound and their lauded live performances.

Hachiku are regularly supported by NPR's All Songs Considered, Bandcamp, DIY Magazine, Clash Magazine and NME, and are consistently invited to support household names in the UK, Europe, the US and so-called Australia, including Courtney Barnett, Jen Cloher, The Breeders, José González, Snail Mail and many more, including festival appearances at Iceland Airwaves, SXSW and Melbourne Music Week.

Ostendorf is also a frequent collaborator with Jen Cloher and co-produced her ARIA, AMP, AIR and Music Victoria-nominated fifth album I Am The River, The River Is Me (2023). In the US, he has landed dubbing jobs for Netflix's Never Have I Ever, HBO Max's The Sex Lives of College Girls and Audi's mysterious 13-minute "Led Balloon" commercial.
