Heidelberg photographer Fritz Hartschuh captured the most beautiful views of the city and many special events in the 1950s with his camera. Even when prominent guests visited Heidelberg, the well-known photographer was quickly on the spot. The fact that he also found his motifs in everyday life and in the world of work is particularly interesting when looking back on this decade. Even though the post-war years continued to shape life in Heidelberg for a long time, the magic of a new beginning was already in the air. As a good observer, technically adept photographer and multi-talented all-rounder, Hartschuh succeeded in impressively depicting the spirit of optimism at that time.
The exhibition in cooperation with the Heidelberg City Archive shows a large selection of Fritz Hartschuh's pictures. In combination with original film documents, design objects and pictures by Marie Marcks, Hanna Nagel, Will Sohl, Siegfried Czerny and Karin Bruns, a multifaceted picture of the 1950s in Heidelberg is created.
