Heimathelden - das OWL-Quiz-Duell
In the organizer's words:
On October 10, Matthias Borner’s new Ostwestfalen-Lippe Quiz will be published by Grupello-Verlag. To mark the occasion, the Gütersloh-based author and satirist (‹“Vox Rindvieh”) will transform the auditorium of the Evangelisch Stiftisches Gymnasium into a quiz arena. Two pairs of contestants will take on his tricky questions—and hopefully get some help from the audience.
›Tanina Rottmann and ›Mario Alexander Unger from Radio Gütersloh will compete as Team “Gütersloher Gute-Laune-Giganten.” They’ll be challenged by the team “Isselhorster Intelligenzbestien,” consisting of local heroes ›Nils Wigginghaus, among others, the founder of the Vesperkirche, and ›Jeanette Salzmann, who heads the Gütersloh local news desk at theNeue Westfälische.
If you don’t know the answer, ask the audience
The four candidates will answer Borner’s questions about unusual places to visit, surprising records, and curious events from East Westphalia-Lippe. If they get stuck—which they themselves are assuming will happen—the audience steps in. Then either individual guests or the collective wisdom of the audience can give the two teams a helping hand.
Puzzles, laughter, and doing good
Winning isn’t everything this evening anyway. Three other things are more important than getting the answers right:
- the fun, which the participants guarantee—especially since “Special Guest” Andreas Neuhaus, in his signature role as Farmer Stratenkötter, provides humorous commentary on the action on stage—
- the “aha” moments that even locals experience thanks to the wealth of information about the region, and
- the good cause. That’s because a large portion of the proceeds goes as a donation to a nonprofit organization. Which one is determined by the evening’s local heroes—that is, the winning couple.
