Fragile and monumental, ephemeral and enduring - the works of Katharina Lehmann and Ulrike Markus unfold a subtle field of tension in the room. Upon entering, a structure of amorphous forms and precise lines opens up, a lively field of sequences, rhythms and material vibrations. The intense physicality of the works evokes irritating associations: does what is shown seem alive, breathing - perhaps about to change in the next moment?

Subtle processes take place quietly. Movement and stillness intertwine. In Here we are. Echoes of Matter. traces, resonances and fragments meet. The visible enters into an exchange with the invisible, the fleeting with the permanent, the fragile with the monumental.

Here we are.

This sentence marks an arrival and a continuation. It establishes presence, visibility and self-image. At the start of the GEDOK anniversary year, it refers to the voices of the artists, to their works and connections that have grown over a century - and that continue to have an impact in the present.

Visitors are invited to discover new connections - material and immaterial - in this interplay of sound and silence, tension and calm, touch and echo.

About GEDOKmuc

With over 300 members, GEDOKmuc is the largest regional group of the nationwide GEDOK organization, the largest and most traditional interdisciplinary women artists' organization in Europe. As a recognized non-profit organization, GEDOKmuc has set itself the goal of sustainably promoting the work of talented female artists from the disciplines of fine arts, applied arts, music and literature, especially in the context of cross-border and cross-disciplinary trends in contemporary art. About Katharina Lehmann

Katharina Lehmann, born in Western Siberia in 1984, lives and works in Munich. Graduated from the Munich Design School in 2006; previously studied at the Hyvinkää School of Art in Finland. She has received several national and international awards. In 2019/20 she took part in the six-month artist residency "The Swatch Art Peace Hotel" in Shanghai. Through her "Infinite Walk", she creates areas of fabric by walking across surfaces. Her works transport us into a world in which delicate patterns combine with profound social issues.

About Ulrike Markus

Ulrike Markus, born in Ulm in 1989, lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. She studied sculpture at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main and received her diploma with distinction in 2022 under Mike Bouchet. Her installations, sculptures and kinetic objects - often made of glass, ceramics and light, fragile materials - address the relationship between the body and the digital environment. She has received several awards and grants, most recently from the Stiftung der Frankfurter Sparkassen and the Gerhard Bürger Stiftung 2024.
