HERR LEHMANN - Filmreihe 35 Jahre Mauerfall

35 years ago, the Berlin Wall was brought down and shortly afterwards an entire political system. The fall of the Wall was the symbolic climax of the peaceful revolt in the GDR - and so it was ultimately the courage of the people that went down in the history books.

To commemorate the events of 35 years ago, a series of films will be shown at the Roxy Lichtspielhaus in October, looking at the events and experiences of that time from different perspectives (sometimes East, sometimes West).

One of the most beautiful German films was certainly HERR LEHMANN by Leander Haußmann, based on the novel by Sven Regener, which, like SONNENALLLEE, depicts a piece of everyday life in Berlin, only this time from the other, western part of the city.

Mr. Lehmann (Christian Ulmen) once came to West Berlin to escape military service and somehow got stuck here. For years, Mr. Lehmann has been working behind the counter of the trendy pub "Einfall" in the shadow of the Wall and hangs out with the same old guys who can't get their lives together any more than he can. The fact that Lehmann, of all people, finally falls in love is nothing short of a miracle, even though his relationship with the cook Katrin (Katja Danowski) is not exactly easy - just like everything else in Mr. Lehmann's life.
