OTTO E MEZZO tells the story of filmmaker Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni), who recalls his repressed complexes and lost childhood dreams during a creative crisis and reflects on his relationship to art, women and ultimately the meaning of life in general. Federico Fellini cast Claudia Cardinale as his muse, the source of his inspiration. And he made sure that, after years of dubbing, her own dark, raspy voice was heard in the film for the first time. "With Fellini, Claudia Cardinale was the ideal woman, the dream girl of a director who has the sure feeling that 'this girl could be the solution to everything'. And the way she floats barefoot through the spa gardens in a white nurse's smock in her first appearance makes you think this is entirely possible." (Michael Althen)
