How to Become a Sweet Potato
In the organizer's words:
Right in the heart of Nordstadt stands the best fries stand in the Ruhr: Selma and Alper are behind the counter and are sick and tired of racist bullshit. That’s why they now only serve the finest sweet potato fries over their counter. They chat about the diversity of immigrant perspectives, stories from the Ruhr, and fries dips, turning their stand into a hotspot for Kanax, allies, and anyone who wants to become one. Together with the audience and surprise guests, they create a lot of love in the stomach—and in the heart.
The artistic program combines performance, music, and discourse in a show format. Director Philip Gregor Grüneberg and dramaturg Aylin Kreckel have brought together an intercultural team from North Rhine-Westphalia for the project. Their collaboration is rooted in a shared commitment to empowerment, allyship, and social transformation that links art and political action.
