Students of the International Ensemble Modern Academy perform world premieres by composition students.

The concert with the IEMA study program and the composition class of the HfMDK takes place annually in the summer semester. Concept proposals by the composition students are selected by a four-member jury made up of members of Ensemble Modern and the composition professors. A try-out in January with the IEMA Ensemble then gives the selected composers the opportunity to explore their ideas experimentally and practically in order to gain insights for further compositional work. In this respect, the concert is the result of a lengthy process that offers the unique opportunity for a joint, close exchange between highly qualified instrumentalists and composers due to the physical proximity and the same university.
