The Sogetsu school is one of the most modern Ikebana schools in Japan. Today, the word ikebana, living flower, no longer expresses its entire essence. It is mainly, but no longer exclusively, about flowers. At present, ikebana can be classified as sculptural art. Although the floral is the basis, it is not the only material requirement. Abstract materials such as plastic, metal, synthetic materials, glass and scrap metal can also be incorporated into the design.
