Implantieren Festival 2026 - Negative 1

In the organizer's words:

"Negative 1 " will take place as part of the Implantieren Festival 2026

Negative 1 is a durational performance presented over three consecutive days, with each session lasting one hour. Seated on a black chair, Larry Bonćhaka reads aloud through a megaphone the names of innocent lives lost to violence, genocide, and mass atrocities. As each name is spoken, a tattoo artist marks a small red circle on Bonćhaka’s shaved head, creating a cumulative visual record of remembrance and loss. This repetitive act transforms the body into a living archive, making the scale of human suffering visible through endurance, inscription, and sound. After each performance, the recorded audio continues to play through the sound system, extending the presence of the names beyond the live event.

Larry Bonćhaka is a NET-worker currently based in Frankfurt am Main. Bonćhaka focuses on connectivity and the relationships between beings. He is inspired by the simplicity of life and the gifts it offers.

Implantieren is a biennial performance festival organized by ID_Frankfurt – Independent Dance and Performance e. V., which has been exploring the boundaries of performance art since 2013.  This year’s edition of the festival will take place from August 21 to 23, 2026, in Frankfurt am Main and Rüdesheim am Rhein. Under the title “Soft Cities – We belong here!”, the festival highlights care, solidarity, and hope, and provides a platform for marginalized perspectives and those affected by discrimination. With free admission, the program includes performances, installations, public space events, and workshops for children and adults, connecting the local performance scene with artists from all over Germany.
