Instant Screen Printing Workshop: Print Your Own Image
In the organizer's words:
Have you always wanted to create and print your own designs?
This workshop introduces Instant Screen Printing—a DIY technique that lets you print a “screen” featuring your own image in seconds. By skipping the tedious and time-consuming process of preparing a traditional screen using photosensitive emulsion and lots of water, it lets you focus on the creative part of the work.
No prior knowledge or skills required.
What to expect?
- An introduction to the Instant Screen Printing technique
- Preparing your image, either digitally or by drawing on paper
- Printing a screen using an Instant Screen Printer (up to A4 size)
- Transferring the image onto fabric (up to three pieces)
- Water-based and non-toxic screen printing ink in a variety of colors
- Tips on paints, materials, and techniques
- Free snacks and drinks
- Presentation of the results
- Free extra screen for printing at home
All necessary tools, ink, and printing equipment are provided by the organizers.
What to bring?
- A piece of fabric. We encourage you to bring something you’ll definitely wear or use—T-shirts, tote bags, pillowcases, or anything else (once, we printed a poem on a pair of pants 🤫). Important: It should be made of cotton or other natural materials. Only white or light-colored textiles will work with this method. Some blank T-shirts are available on site (for an extra cost).
- An idea for the print. It can be a quote or a single-color line drawing. We don’t recommend using a photo, as it’s much harder to print evenly using this technique.
- Optional: Bring your laptop if you want to prepare an image to print on-site.
