Six years off - now they're back! British acid jazz band Jamiroquai have just announced their new tour "The Heels Of Steel Tour" for 2025. The band last wowed their fans in Cologne's LANXESS arena in 2019 and have now announced their comeback. With a Grammy, several nominations for the Brit Awards and millions of albums sold, the band is one of the most successful in its industry. Fans can look forward to an NRW-exclusive show in Cologne on 22.11.2025.

Jamiroquai don't really need an introduction: they have been shaping the British acid jazz scene for over 30 years and are one of the world's best-known funk bands. A Grammy, 15 nominations for the Brit Awards, two Guinness World Records and over 26 million albums sold speak for themselves! The band's founder Jay Kay, born in Manchester in 1969, is the only constant member of the band. Despite a difficult childhood, he found his way to music at an early age and founded Jamiroquai in 1992 - a neologism made up of "Jam" and "Iroquois", the name of an indigenous tribe in the USA. The first demos brought Jay Kay a record deal with the legendary British label Acid Jazz Records and the debut single "When You Gonna Learn?" was an instant hit. Their breakthrough came in 1993 with their debut album "Emergency on Planet Earth", which was critically acclaimed and established them as pioneers of the acid jazz movement.

Kay's unmistakable vocals, combined with funky basslines and diverse instrumentation, quickly gained the band a large fan base. The critical lyrics on environmental and social issues were also very well received. "The Return of the Space Cowboy" followed the very next year and even surpassed the success of their debut. Their 1996 album
"Travelling Without Moving" catapulted them to international fame. This was mainly due to the worldwide hit "Virtual Insanity" and its innovative, award-winning music video.

After the departure of bassist Stuart Zender, Jay Kay started almost from scratch with the fourth album "Synkronized" (1999) and brought more electronic influences into the music. With "A Funk Odyssey" in 2001, Jamiroquai proved that they could remain relevant in the 21st century: The mix of disco and electronic sounds showed the band's innovative side. After the similarly electronically inspired album "Dynamite" in 2005, they returned to more organic funk and soul sounds in 2010 with "Rock Dust Light Star". On "Automaton" (2017), Kay combined futuristic sounds with the band's classic funk roots.

In addition to their commercial success, Jamiroquai are known above all for their energetic live shows. Despite changing line-ups, they always seem like a unit on stage, having played together for decades. After a six-year break from touring, they will be returning to the big European stages at the end of 2025! They will also be coming to Germany for two shows.

On November 22, 2025, Jamiroquai will perform an NRW-exclusive show at the LANXESS arena in Cologne.
