Chick Corea and Sting send their regards: A breath of the big, wide musical world blows when the two renowned British jazz stars Jason Rebello and Tim Garland leave their musical footprint in a duo concert in Hamburg. Longtime Sting pianist Jason Rebello and Chick Corea's saxophonist Tim Garland celebrate their personal and musical friendship with the release of their new duo album, Life To Life (Whirlwind Recordings), which documents the culmination of a respectful partnership now spanning three decades between two of Britain's most revered jazz musicians. Jason Rebello and Tim Garland are both highly decorated musicians (various national and international awards, including the Grammy Award) who have worked with such luminaries as Sting, Phil Collins, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Jeff Beck and many more throughout their careers. The longtime friends both thought it was time to record a duo format at this point in their careers. "I just feel like we need to make music together," Rebello says. "It's a natural outcome of two people who have known each other for a long time.It's also a learning experience," he adds. "For me, it's Tim's compositions, creative skills and ideas that I've really learned from." Garland agrees, "The thing about learning from each other - it's pretty crucial. When they're playing in a duet, you need that solid grounding. Every single thing you do, every part of the piano, every part of the horn is so obvious. That grounding helps my more cerebral side connect to the now of the music, and that's why it's so good for me to work with Jason." The two musicians will demonstrate their extraordinary skill in congenial interplay in concert at JazzHall. An experience of absolute musical world class!
