Jazz+ at the Seidlvilla presents: 16.06.2026_Tanrikulu/Dunston

Cansu Tanrıkulu (vocals, SFX, G clarinet)
Nick Dunston (double bass, electronics)

The duo Cansu Tanrıkulu and Nick Dunston playfully switch back and forth between raw acoustic and synthetic soundscapes, exploring text and sound not only as carriers of multi-layered meanings, but also as a means of conveying pure expression. Their performances range from minimalist moments with unamplified voice and acoustic double bass to sets with a variety of electronic instruments and theatrical elements.

In 2024, they were awarded the prestigious SWR Jazz Prize as a duo, which included a concert at the Enjoy Jazz Festival in trio format with drummer Joey Baron as special guest. In early 2024, they performed the collaborative work Derializiös by composer Cenk Ergün and poet Nail Doğan at the Haus für Poesie in Berlin. They are currently also working with pianist Kaan Bıyıkoğlu, with whom they launched the Interrupted project in 2023 as part of a scholarship from the Goethe-Institut/Tarabya Kulturakademie in Istanbul. Other ongoing collaborations include duo concerts with other special guests such as Mariá Portugal and Tobias Delius, as well as their projects as bandleaders (Skultura, COLLA VOCE and Piled Up by Tanrıkulu featuring Marc Ribot).
