Jazz Saxophone Night
On this concert evening, the saxophonists in Prof. Stefan Karl Schmid's class will present the ensembles they have put together themselves. This fall semester, they have chosen the music of pianist Thelonious Monk as their common theme. With his idiosyncratic piano style and unmistakable compositions, Monk is regarded as one of the great individualists and important innovators of modern jazz. Individual arrangements of his music as well as the students' own compositions will be performed. The audience will thus be offered a multi-layered concert evening that provides a personal and exciting insight into the creative work of the young musicians.
