At the age of two, Mirna Bogdanović had already experienced greater difficulties than most when she was forced to flee her country with her parents as a result of the war. She is now firmly established in the Berlin scene and has made a name for herself as an emotional songwriter, downbeat award-winning singer and performer.

For her debut "Confrontation" (KLAENG records, 2021), produced by Wanja Slavin, she received the 2021 German Jazz Award (Debut Album of the Year). The follow-up "Awake" (Berthold Records, 2023) was rewarded with another German Jazz Award (Album of the Year) this year.

Her introspective second album "Awake" was recorded at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin and was played by a chamber ensemble including a string quartet (Rothko String Quartet). Produced by renowned London multi-instrumentalist/producer Chris Hyson (Snowpoet), it presents a sound that is rich, varied and modern. Layers of vocal harmonies, synthesizer textures and effects are woven into the already complex sound of her extended ensemble. Mirna Bogdanovic wrote the music for "Awake" under the impression of a break-up drama and other personal experiences.

The album was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award 2023, voted NDR and SWR Album of the Week and received numerous reviews in established magazines and airplay on radio stations in Germany and abroad. Accompanied by an innovative and first-class quintet, she has won over critics and the media in Germany and beyond. Bogdanovic's audience seems to be getting bigger and more engaged. Through years of performing, the group has developed a unique sound and language that brings out the best in Mirna's compositions.
