At the center of this quartet is clarinetist and saxophonist Edith Steyer, whose musical language is rooted in free improvisation, jazz and contemporary music. Characterized by an open, exploratory attitude and a pronounced interest in different sound cultures, she develops a multi-layered musical aesthetic in which acoustic and electronic elements meet.
Together with Joe Hertenschtein (drums), Svetlana Marinchenko (piano, synthesizer) and Isabel Rösler (bass), she creates an open sound space full of tension, subtle interaction and spontaneous energy. Prepared instruments, extended playing techniques, electronic sound processing and direct communication in the moment form a music that is at once delicate, physical and unpredictable.

The focus is on the joint exploration of sound - between structure and freedom, between fine textures, expressive density and noisy, dynamic impulses. The result is a collective sound that constantly reinvents itself and unfolds its power in the dialog between the musicians.

FBJR: "Female Band Leader Jazz Row" is a concert series curated by pianist and keyboardist Svetlana Marinchenko, who invites exciting female band leaders from Berlin and other cities onto the stage.

The selection of female artists is based primarily on their distinctive musical sound and individual artistic signature. The series presents both established female musicians with notable successes in the music scene as well as new, promising voices that provide fresh impetus.

Each guest artist is a creative personality with her own vision and a special approach to music. The concerts offer the audience top-class musicians, new music and an inspiring, lively atmosphere.
