JIMMY DALE Surf Trio

For Jimmy Dale, music - especially surf music - is a family tradition. His father, Dick Dale, remains the undisputed king of surf music, a pioneer who took surf music to an otherworldly level. As the son and heir to the King, Jimmy was groomed at a young age to one day take on his destined role: to keep his father's music alive. Not as king, but as the crown prince of surf music. When Jimmy was two years old, his father took advantage of his young son's lively energy and began teaching him to play the drums while most kids his age were learning nursery rhymes. But Jimmy didn't just drum in his playroom. His loving mother, Jill Dale, set up a small kit for Jimmy at the side of the stage during Dick's shows. In the third grade, Dick began teaching Jimmy to play guitar. But not just any guitar. In the mid-1990s, Dick commissioned master Fender luthier John English to make a custom Fender Stratocaster for Jimmy, right down to the iconic lead-based gold metal flake finish and custom narrow neck. Jimmy still plays this right-handed replica of Dick Dale's original left-handed guitar to this day.
