Josephine Baker was one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. As a dancer and diplomat, animal rights activist and chansonette, spy and cabaret artist, lady of the manor and mother of eleven adopted children, she set standards with her commitment to fighting injustice. Time and again, she reacted artistically and politically to experiences of racism, discrimination and persecution and, as a Black woman, never lost the courage to make an extravagant, provocative appearance. 50 years after Josephine Baker's death, the international performance group La Fleur shows how the stage artist created her performances with speed, sexiness, comedy and improvisation. Open air on Goetheplatz, with dance scenes, music and texts that reflect the social contexts.
