Käfer & Krümel – World Cleanup Day im Stadtwald

The world is cleaning up—and Querwaldein and Zero Waste Köln are joining in!

We’ll grab gloves and trash bags, fan out together around the Adenauer Weiher, and pick up anything that doesn’t belong there. In honor of World Children’s Day, we’re saving the nature right on our doorstep—which is so important for kids—so that bugs, birds, and other creatures can find a clean home in the forest instead of plastic and trash. We’ll provide the trash bags, gloves, and tongs.

Afterward, there’ll be a cozy picnic for everyone— feel free to bring something to share, and don’t forget your (reusable) dishes and cutlery!

What to expect:

• A sense of community and neighborly spirit— first we’ll work together, then we’ll enjoy a delicious snack and munch on treats from the buffet, to which everyone contributes
• A relaxing Sunday in the woods
• Nature-themed games for all ages
• Music by Julie and Me (5:00 p.m.)

Kids’ program:

• Hands-on station by Querwaldein—how do the forest’s recycling pros —beetles, woodlice, earthworms, and friends—turn wood and leaves into forest soil crumbs?
• Fishing game by Zero Waste Cologne: Rescue recyclable materials from the incinerator and show where they really belong!
• Dramatic reading of “Kids Party Wild, Without a Trace of Dirt” (4:00 p.m.)

For neighbors, families, and anyone looking forward to a relaxing afternoon in nature—for a good cause.

We’re also taking part in theESD Action Days, organized by the Network for Education for Sustainable Development, which offers educational activities on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
