Kammerchor Pesterwitz | Vogelstimmen und Naturromantik
In the organizer's words:
Classical music touches the soul deeply. On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 5 p.m., the vespers in Dresden's Kreuzkirche invites you to an experience full of peace and contemplation. As a cool church on hot days, the sacred space offers refuge for inner contemplation. In the midst of the community, you will experience top-class live music performed by the Pesterwitz Chamber Choir under the direction of Anne Horenburg and Kreuz organist Holger Gehring.
The program of this hour of classical music is dedicated to the fascinating bird motif. Touching choral movements such as Mendelssohn's "The Nightingale", Stanford's "The Blue Bird" or Janequin's onomatopoeic "Le chant des oiseaux" capture the lightness of summer. Gehring plays Pachelbel's Fuga "Nachtigall" and Kerll's "Capriccio sopra il cucu" on the organ. Works by the former Kreuzkantor Rudolf Mauersberger round off the concert.
The Pesterwitz Chamber Choir, which emerged from a youth project in Freital in 1999, is now an integral part of Dresden's musical landscape and is known for its stylistic diversity.
