The world-renowned, symphonic Basel Chamber Orchestra impresses with its artistic excellence, versatility and depth. The Münchner Merkur described the Basel Chamber Orchestra with these words: "[...] (It) performs as a body of individuals. The way everyone throws themselves into the game with enthusiasm, as if their lives depended on it, is the sensation that the audience [...] celebrates extensively." With its remarkable sensitivity for first-class soloists and intelligent programming, the Basel Chamber Orchestra ensures incomparable concert evenings.
The wonderful piano virtuoso Yulianna Avdeeva will make her Pro Arte debut as the evening's soloist. In 2010, she was the first woman after Martha Argerich to win the prestigious Chopin Competition and gained worldwide recognition. She was praised by the FAZ for her "technically adept painting in sounds". In her playing she combines technical superiority with deep artistic maturity. A pianist of fiery temperament and virtuosity, Avdeeva plays with power, conviction and sensitivity, for she is an "artist who can really make the piano sing" (Gramophone). The program includes Beethoven's powerful yet deeply moving Piano Concerto No. 3, a work that redefined the boundaries of the piano repertoire, as well as Brahms' Symphony No. 3, whose radiant melodies and harmonic structures inspire.
