KARSTEN JAHNKE & DIFFUS PRÄSENTIEREN: TAHA + SPECIAL GUEST: MORTIS TOUR FUER VERLIERER 2023

In the organizer's words:

Catch-up date for 23.9.2023. Tickets remain valid.

Statement from TAHA:

"Hey everyone,

I would like to tell you the reasons why I had to postpone my tour.

I'm currently working on my third album and I'm really working with everything I have on this release. However, it's not, or wasn't, the way I wanted it to be.

And I had the opportunity to go on stage without the album but the sales weren't strong enough for that. They weren't bad either, but unfortunately not enough to play a tour without a release.

And since my music is infinitely important to me and I didn't want to give you a half-baked album or an unfinished show, I had to postpone the tour for losers until March 2024.

Oh, all tickets remain valid of course. Unfortunately, Hanover and Vienna will not be postponed, but canceled with a heavy heart, as these were the cities with the lowest sales. You'll simply get your money back for these tickets.

I hope you can bear with me and we can look forward to the album together, which will definitely be released this year.

Besides, I have to give you a little time to memorize the lyrics :)

There will be new music very soon and we'll see each other again on tour at the latest.

I love you guys.

Kisses

TAHA"

Taha, previously known as Kex Kuhl, returns to his punk roots Debut album under a new name: "Medizin" released on his own label FUKK MUSIC Taha is back! Wait, has Taha even been around before? Well, in that sense, yes:
Most people probably know him as Kex Kuhl. But because everything is different right now anyway and you can confidently leave some things behind, the musician is now only on the road under his real first name. "Friends like Nura or SAM have always released their art under their own name," explains Taha. "I think I have a nice name and no longer have to hide behind an alias. I am my music and what I say with it." With "Medizin", Taha released his debut album under a new name on 02.07.2021. It was released via his own label FUKK MUSIC. "I find it exciting to do my own thing and understand the processes," says Taha. "I'm also responsible for everything and decide for myself how my music should sound. No-one can dictate to me. That feels just right." The eleven tracks on "Medizin" leave no doubt about that. "This album is the result of years of shadow work," says Taha and laughs. Some songs are quiet, others loud, some therapeutic, others danceable, some angry, others smooth - melodic and melancholic pop-punk in all its facets. "Of course, with 'Stokkholm' I went for a much more guitar-heavy and organic sound after my rap beginnings. And of course I also dealt with my depression on the album. But the songs were a lot darker and more melancholy." That changes with "Medizin". "Even though I did hip-hop for a long time, I come from punk," says Taha. The genre is his home, it's where he feels at home - and the pink hair, piercings and tattoos leave no doubt about it. The latter in particular are more than just a subcultural styling measure. For example, there are the numbers 4, 7 and 8 on his knuckles - a cross-reference to the breathing technique of the same name, which can alleviate anxiety. Or the anatomical heart on the back of the hand. "Whenever I thought my heart was going to stop, I looked at it and it helped me a little," says Taha.
When nothing else worked, she also had to take medication. "Medicine", the first song that Taha recorded for the album together with Nura and Nugat, is also about the dependency on antidepressants and the fight against them. "Being able to cope without the medication gave me back a lot of self-confidence that I had lost for a long time." After that, it's all about the next step: Taha records the album in Emsland with MC Zirkel, who also takes on a large part of the production. He also receives musical support from Jules Kalmbacher, Patrick Luckert, John ODMGDIA, Nugat and drummer Roy Knauf, who, after working with and for Peter Fox, Deichkind and Marteria, also refines the majority of the songs on "Medizin" with his skills on the drums and brings them to life in a completely different way. One of them is "Serotonin", a loud punk song as it is written in the book, a noisy ode to the happiness hormone and what it does to you when it's no longer there. "Benzin" tells of intoxication, romance and sleepless nights in the best sense of the word - whether that means a person or a drug? It's hard to say... But "Medizin" isn't just about rioting and rampaging, especially towards the end of the album the songs become much calmer and more reflective. There's "Ein Schluck", for example, a song for and about Taha's good friend, the rapper and songwriter Sam, who died three years ago. Such a poignant piece has its place on "Medizin", as does "Geschichten vom Krieg", a song in which Taha deals with his time as a pawn in the music industry, or "Messer".
music industry, or "Messer", a somewhat different kind of love song. Some songs make you smile, others make you sob or swallow. But they all have one thing in common: they come from the heart. "'Medizin' is my second album, but the first with my real name - that's why it feels like my first release ever," says Taha. "So many obstacles were put in my way and doors were slammed in my face. But when someone tells me that I'm not allowed to do something or that something won't work, it motivates me to try even harder. The fact that the album is now finished and will be released on my own label, FUKK MUSIC, is the best proof of that."
