Katharina Schreiter. Membran

Together with the artist, we take a walk around and through the MdbK to view her new installation Membran .
It has been on display at the MdbK since mid-February: Katharina Schreiter has explored the architecture of the museum - using it as a starting point for photographic self-staging. Using collage, the artist combines her own black and white photographs of the terraces and stairwells with performative self-portraits charged with brightly colored props.

Three of the five motifs in the series can be seen as large-format banners on the façade of the MdbK. There they fulfill the function of the eponymous membrane, a delicate, thin skin that simultaneously serves as a separating and connecting layer between interior and exterior space. Two further photographs have been integrated into the permanent exhibition - they intervene and enter into a dialog with it.
