Kati Naumann und die Bordkapelle: Fernwehland

The Astoria is the oldest seaworthy cruise ship in the world. It has been carrying people across the sea for over seventy years and has determined countless destinies. After a collision with the luxury ship Andrea Doria, it was sold to the GDR and used for vacation trips from then on. On its journeys to the Caribbean, the ship and its passengers also find themselves caught between the fronts of the Cold War.

Stewardess Simone and sailor Henri met on this ship many years ago. Today they are embarking on another cruise on the Astoria and thus also on a journey into their past. They meet the Swede Frida, who experienced the ship's christening as a child and whose story is also closely linked to that of the ship.

Kati Naumann was born in Leipzig in 1963. She spent a large part of her childhood in Sonneberg, in the former restricted area in the Thuringian Forest. She studied museology and has written several novels as well as song lyrics for various artists and the libretto for the musical Elixier (music by Tobias Künzel). She has written scripts for children's programs and developed several radio play and book series for children. Kati Naumann lives with her family in Leipzig and London.
