Lena Schätte is Erfurt City Scribe 2026. Her "ancestors" in this role include Catalin Dorian Florescu, who was Erfurt City Scribe in 2010. What does this role mean to both of them? What inspires them to write? And how is the city of Erfurt reflected in their works? Lena Schätte and Catalin Dorian Florescu will discuss these and other questions with each other and with the audience, moderated by Galina Haak, Head of the Erfurt Autumn Reading Literature Program, and Niklas Wagner, Head of the Catholic Forum in Thuringia.

They will also read from their latest works: Lena Schätte from her novel "Das Schwarz an den Händen meines Vaters" and Catalin Dorian Florescu from his book "Matei entdeckt die Freiheit". Both works provide a literary account of what can happen when the past catches up with the present.

The event will deliberately take place in two locations: first in the church of St. Wigbert, exemplary of Erfurt's cityscape characterized by church towers, and then in the Kultur: Haus Dacheröden with its culturally rich past and present.

18.30-19.30: Reading by Lena Schätte and Catalin Dorian Florescu

19.30-20.00: Move from St. Wigbert to Haus Dacheröden opposite, short refreshment break

20.00-20.30/45 hrs: Discussion on the topic of city writing, the city as inspiration, research(ing) and writing in the respective place
