Bringing the Kiezsalon’s month-long stint at DAS MINSK in Potsdam to a close are French bagpipe player and composer Erwan Keravec and Berlin-based sound artist Midori Hirano with polyinstrumentalist duo Brueder Selke.
Raised in Brittany, Erwan Keravec is a bagpiper, composer and improviser who has taken the Scottish bagpipes into realms far beyond their original cultural setting. As well as breaking new instrumental ground in improvised music, free jazz and noise, he has established a contemporary repertoire for solo pipes, trio with solo voice and with choir. His 2025 album Whitewater marked a return to his solo practice; The Wire described it as “a trio of rippling, phasing soundscapes which grow and transform like mycelium across a tautly intense half hour.”

Midori Hirano is a Japanese musician, composer and sound artist based in Berlin. Expanding beyond her classical piano roots through electronics, synthesizer and field recordings, she creates immersive soundscapes where acoustic intimacy meets experimental abstraction. Split Scale , her 2025 collaborative album with Brueder Selke (brothers Sebastian and Daniel Selke) and her latest solo album OTONOMA were both released on Thrill Jockey. PopMatters described the former as “imbued with a dark sense of mystery” , while Bandcamp Daily wrote of OTONOMA that “everything is fitted together with elegance and musical wisdom.”
