Eleven-year-old Santino is a circus child. He travels around the country with his family and animals in a caravan - here today, there tomorrow. His great-grandfather is one of the last great circus directors in Germany and tells him the stories of his long life: Of his friendship with an elephant, of farewells, new beginnings and his first steps as a clown in the circus ring. ZIRKUSKIND tells of growing up with a large family and animals, of the fascination of the circus and of those who have been bringing art and entertainment to the circus ring for generations.
The documentary for children and adults takes an entertaining, funny and thought-provoking look behind the scenes: How does a circus family really live, and how is the magic created in the circus ring?
